USDA Food Commodities

GNS is designated by the State of California, and the Siskiyou County Board of Supervisors, to distribute USDA Commodities and emergency food in our area.  GNS also provides food in support of several soup kitchens.

The 2015 GNS Food Commodities Distribution Schedule appears below. Deliveries may be  subject to change due to weather, please go only to the location nearest your home.

Recipients must sign in to self-certify that they are a resident of the area where they are picking up food and that they meet the income guidelines for the program that appear below.

When picking up food for another individual, a signed USDA issued form is required.

Q.  Where can I go to get emergency food?
A.  Contact GNS for the location of any of 11 sites in Siskiyou County that can provide emergency food assistance.

Q.  Can I go to any site and receive Commodities?
A.  Go to the site nearest to the town where you live and sign up. Be prepared to self certify that you meet residency and income requirements.

Q.  Where and when are Commodities given out?
A.  Canned, fresh and frozen foods are distributed at 22 sites throughout Siskiyou County every other month to residents where their nearest site is located.  Call 530-938-4115 ext. 134 for a recorded list of all sites and dates for the upcoming month. Dates are determined a year in advance by the Federal government.

Q. Where did Siskiyou Food Assistance relocate to after the Boles Fire?
Siskiyou Food Assistance for Weed area residents happens weekly on Wednesdays from 11 AM – 3 PM now at  Building 11 on the Weed campus of COS, near the gym.
